The Institut d’Acoustique – Graduate School (IA-GS) is a research and education unit growing from the label of excellence “Ecole Universitaire de Recherche” (EUR). It relies on the high-level research of the LAUM, Laboratoire d’Acoustique de l’Université du Mans, associated with the CNRS (UMR 6613) to provide a high level of education to and through research, from Master’s Degrees, to PhD’s.

The Acoustics Laboratory at the University of Le Mans ( LAUM ) is one of the largest acoustics laboratories in Europe and the world.

LAUM cooperates with French, European (Great Britain, Spain, Sweden, Czech Republic…) and International (USA, Canada, China, Brazil, Japan…) laboratories. It has also forged industrial partnerships with the Le Mans Technology Transfer Center (CTTM), SAFRAN, SNCF, Renault, PSA, Valéo, Orange Labs …

Program in brief

LEVEL : Master (M1 or M2)
DEADLINE : May 17, 2021.
FUNDING : €5,000 + internship funding outside of France.
TARGET GROUP : All nationalities.

Benefits offered by the scholarship

10 scholarships will be awarded to the best students: 5 in Master 1 and 5 in Master 2. The annual amount of the IA-GS scholarship is €5,000 per student and per academic year. The selection is based on academic excellence (overall Bachelor score and scientific test score), personal project and motivation.

Students will have the opportunity to do internships abroad with more than 60 institutions including, for example KTH Stockholm, CALTECH, MIT, Harvard, University of Sherbrooke, Nanjing University, Hong-Kong University of Science and Technology, Washington State University, University of California at San Diego, University of Campinas, Leuven University, University of Athens, University of Sidney, CPUT …

Access condition

To apply for this international master’s program, a bachelor’s degree (license) is compulsory, in the following fields:

  • Physics,
  • Mechanical engineering
  • Electrical engineering,
  • Materials science,
  • Acoustics …

A selection committee will evaluate the applications and select the students on the basis of the results of the Bachelor, matching the profile with the program of the Master and the motivation.
