Top 30 scholarships in Sweden for international students

Sweden values high-quality education, and the country’s policies make that clear. There are 40 universities in Sweden, many of which make it into top ranks globally, such as Uppsala University, Lund University or Stockholm University. Sweden has been one of the European pioneers for switching to English-language and offers a whopping 900 degrees to choose from.

If you want to study in Sweden, and you are searching for a financial source, here is our list of every available scholarship to study in Sweden.

Keep in mind, you MUST apply for a bachelor, master, or PhD program on universityadmissions.se before applying to the majority of these scholarships. Most Sweden’s universities admissions’ deadlines are 17 January 2022. Past due to this date, you can’t apply to any scholarship, even if it’s open for application.

So, here is the full list of scholarships in Sweden for the 2022-2023 academic year:

1. BTH scholarship program for prospective students

BTH scholarship program for prospective students is available for citizens from non-EU/EEA countries. The scholarship coverers tuition fees in part. The level of tuition fee reduction is normally 50%.

DEADLINE : January 17th, 2022
LEVEL : Master.
FINANCING : 50% of tuition fees.

2. Chalmers University Scholarships for Master’s studies

The offer of a scholarship comprises a tuition fee reduction for a maximum of 120 credits (hp) on the Master’s Program stipulated in the Scholarship Award Notification.

LEVEL : Master.
FINANCING :  reduction of the tuition fee.

3. Dalarna University scholarships

Dalarna University scholarships go directly towards a reduction in your tuition fees and will cover between 10 and 50 percent of your total tuition fees. The amount that you are awarded is automatically deducted in set amounts each semester over the duration of your program.

DEADLINE : From 1st January to March 25th 2022.
LEVEL : Master.
FINANCING : 10 and 50 percent of your total tuition fees

4. Halmstad University scholarships

The Halmstad University Scholarship covers 25% or 50% of the tuition fee and will be deducted from the tuition fee. The scholarship will not cover living costs, and there are no grants for family members.

LEVEL : Master.
FINANCING : 25% or 50% of the tuition fee.

5. KTH Royal Institute of Technology scholarships

KTH offers four different scholarship opportunities for master’s studies. The KTH Scholarship covers the tuition fee of a one or two-year master’s program. The KTH One-Year Scholarship is aimed at current KTH master’s program students and covers the tuition fee of the second year of studies. The KTH Joint Program Scholarship is aimed at students in certain joint programs and covers the tuition fee for the study period spent at KTH. The KTH India Scholarship is aimed specifically at students from India.

6. Karlstad University Global Scholarships

The Karlstad University Global Scholarship program is aiming at top academic students from countries outside the European Union/European Economic Area (and Switzerland). Karlstad University Global Scholarship offers scholarships covering tuition fees in part or in full.

DEADLINE : 1 February 2022.
LEVEL : Master.
FINANCING : 25%, 50%, 75% or 100% of the tuition fees.

7 The Karolinska Institute Global Master’s Scholarships

Karolinska Institutet offers a handful of tuition fee scholarships to excellent students who have been admitted to one of its Global Master’s programs starting each Autumn semester. The number of scholarships varies from year to year, but there are maximum 10 scholarships per year, spread to all the Global Master’s programs.

DEADLINE : 17 January 2022.
LEVEL : Master.
FINANCING : Tuition fee.

8. Kristianstad University scholarships

The scholarship will be awarded to citizens of a country outside the EU/EEA. If granted a scholarship, it will include a full or partial reduction of the tuition fee.

DEADLINE : February 1, 2022.

FINANCING : full or partial reduction of the tuition fee.

9. LiU International Scholarship

The LiU International Scholarship is aimed at supporting international master‘s degree students with significant academic potential. The tuition fees for a student awarded a LiU International Scholarship are reduced by 25, 50, or 75%.

DEADLINE : 17 January 2022 (to apply for a program).
LEVEL : Master.
FINANCING : 25, 50, or 75%. Fees reduction.

10. Linnaeus University scholarships

Linnaeus University offers two different scholarship programs at the moment, Linnaeus University Scholarship and Linnaeus University Scholarship for Current Student.

The Linnaeus University Scholarship offers up to 75% reduction of the tuition fees for the rest of the program. The scholarships are initially granted for one semester, but will automatically be extended for the duration of the study program (2 up to 4 semesters), provided that study results are satisfactory.

LEVEL : Master.
FINANCING : 75% reduction of the tuition fees.

11. Lund University Global Scholarship

As a top 100 university and ranked in the top 0.4% of universities in the world, Lund University attracts high achieving students from across the globe. The Lund University Global Scholarship grants may cover partial or up fully tuition fee.

DEADLINE : The next application round will open in February 2022.
LEVEL : Master.
FINANCING : Partial or up to fully tuition fee.

12. Malmö University Master’s Scholarship

These scholarships are awarded based on academic merit, experience and motivation. They cover partial or up to the full tuition fee but do not cover other expenses, such as living expenses.

DEADLINE : 17 January 2022.
LEVEL : Master.
FINANCING : partial or up to fully tuition fee.

13. Mid Sweden University Tuition fee Scholarship

The scholarship covers 75% of the tuition fee. The remaining 25% of the tuition fee each semester, as well as travel costs, living costs and all other expenses are NOT included in the scholarship and must be covered by other means of funding.

DEADLINE : 17 January 2022 (to apply for a program).
LEVEL : Master.
FINANCING : 75% of the tuition fee.

14. Stockholm School of Economics scholarships

SSE’s Full and Half Scholarships (BSc & MSc) are awarded on a competitive basis. Scholarships are offered every year to fully or partially cover the tuition fee for the MSc / BSc programs.

DEADLINE : 17 January 2022 (to apply for a program).
LEVEL : Bachelor, Master.
FINANCING : Full and half exemption from tuition fee.

15. Stockholm University scholarships

The scholarship scheme at Stockholm University is aimed at especially qualified students coming from countries outside the EU, the EEA and Switzerland.

DEADLINE : 17 January 2022.
LEVEL : Master.
FINANCING : whole tuition fee.

16. Mälardalen University scholarships

The scholarship will cover 100% of the tuition fee of the program as long as you follow the normal study plan. The scholarship does not cover living expenses.

DEADLINE : 1 February 2022.

FINANCING : 100% of the tuition fee.

17. Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences scholarships

Scholarship are offered for applicants for the Bachelor’s program Forest and Landscape. A scholarship offered by SLU covers tuition fees only, no living or travel expenses are included.
