The University of Montreal has established a UdeM exemption scholarship program specifically designed for international students. This program aims to attract the most promising talents from around the world, offering them the opportunity to study at one of the best French-speaking research universities in Canada and globally. Scholarships are available for students at the undergraduate (Bachelor’s), graduate (Master’s), and doctoral levels. The application deadline is September 1, 2024.

The University of Montreal hosts over 10,000 international students from 150 countries, representing about 25% of its student body. UdeM Exemption Scholarship Amounts

The UdeM exemption scholarship amount is determined based on the academic excellence of the candidate, evaluated from the transcripts submitted during the admission application.

  1. Bachelor’s:
    • Tier A: $13,340.40 per year (2 semesters – equivalent to 30 credits), $6,670.20 per semester (15 credits), or $444.68 per credit
    • Tier B: $6,357.60 per year (2 semesters – equivalent to 30 credits), $3,178.80 per semester (15 credits), or $211.92 per credit
  2. Master’s
    • Research: $15,149.70 per year (3 semesters – equivalent to 45 credits), $5,049.90 per semester (15 credits), or $336.66 per credit
    • Non-research: $10,474.65 per year (3 semesters – equivalent to 45 credits), $3,491.55 per semester (15 credits), or $232.77 per credit
  3. Doctorate: $22,241.25 per year (3 semesters – equivalent to 45 credits), $7,413.75 per semester (15 credits), or $494.25 per credit

Eligibility Criteria

The UdeM exemption scholarship is available to international students of all nationalities, except for French and Belgian students.

To be eligible, you must:

  1. Have received an admission offer for a study program at UdeM.
  2. Hold valid study authorizations (CAQ and study permit) for the entire duration of the program.
  3. Be enrolled full-time throughout the program, without interruption (except for authorized absences).
  4. Not benefit from any other tuition fee exemption.
  5. Not be enrolled in a non-degree program or certain specific programs (certificate, major, minor, etc.).

Application Procedure

The University of Montreal will automatically evaluate all new candidates to determine their eligibility for the UdeM exemption scholarship and its amount.

To apply for a study program at UdeM, follow these steps:

  1. Fill out the admission application form for the University of Montreal at this link: https://admission.umontreal.ca/en/application/.
  2. After submission, track your application status and receive your admission notice via your student portal.
  3. Accept the admission offer to trigger the evaluation of the scholarship amount.
  4. Soon after receiving your admission offer, you will receive an email indicating the amount of the scholarship awarded.

The deadline to apply for the UdeM exemption scholarships is September 1, 2024.
