North Carolina State residents :

Applicants from North Carolina must meet the following criteria:

  • On track to graduate high school in the spring
  • A competitive applicant to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
  • Nominated by their high school, an affiliate program, or applying directly.

Canadian citizens :

Applicants from Canada must be:

  • On track to graduate high school or CEGEP in the spring
  • A competitive applicant to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
  • Nominated by their high school, an affiliate program, or applying directly.

British citizens :

Applicants from the United Kingdom must meet the following criteria:

  • On track to finish sixth form in the summer.
  • A competitive applicant to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
  • Nominated by their high school, an affiliate program, or applying directly.

Out-of-State Applicants (Outside North Carolina) :

Applicants from outside North Carolina must meet the following criteria to apply to the Morehead-Cain Scholarship:

  • On track to graduate high school in the spring.
  • A competitive applicant to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
  • Nominated by their high school or affiliate program.
  • A North Carolina resident attending school in another state should apply as a North Carolina applicant.

International applicants :

International applicants for the Morehead-Cain Scholarship must be:

  • On track to graduate high school in the spring.
  • A competitive applicant for admission to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
  • Nominated by their high school, an affiliate program, or nominated by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill itself.

How to apply to the Morehead-Cain Scholarship?

To apply for the Morehead-Cain Scholarship follow the steps below:

  1. First, go to this link : https://apply.moreheadcain.org/portal/apply
  2. Second, click on “create an account” and fill out the required fields.
  3. Check your email for an activation PIN code.
  4. Log in to the Morehead-Cain application portal, you will be instructed to set a new password.
  5. Follow the required steps to complete your application.
Admission to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is a separate process from the Morehead-Cain application. You should apply as soon as possible for any undergraduate program at the UNC. The deadline to apply for admission to Carolina is January 15, 2024.
