The University of Western Brittany (UBO, known as the University of Brest) is launching an incoming mobility scholarship program for the 2024-2025 academic year. This call is open to all PhD students enrolled abroad who wish to carry out a research project at UBO in France. The application deadline is May 31, 2024.

Duration of Mobility

The duration of mobility must be a minimum of twelve days (excluding travel) and a maximum of three months.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate’s research project must be carried out in a discipline covered by the doctoral schools of the University of Western Brittany. Additionally, this project must receive joint approval from the doctoral student’s home Research Unit and a Research Unit at UBO, which commits to providing the necessary scientific support for the candidate.

Scholarship Amount from the University of Western Brittany

The doctoral scholarship from the University of Western Brittany includes a flat-rate allowance of 800 euros per month for mobility expenses, as well as a flat-rate allowance for travel expenses, amounting to 500 euros for candidates coming from Europe and North Africa, and 800 euros for those coming from the rest of the world.

The application file includes:

  • The application form duly completed and signed by the candidate.
  • A detailed CV.
  • A signed motivation letter.
  • A presentation of the mobility project and its relevance to the thesis.
  • A letter from the Director of the host Research Unit (UBO) and/or the supervisor specifying the quality of the doctoral student’s reception.
  • A balanced budget for the mobility project (expenses/revenues) (to be prepared with the help of the Director of the host institution).
  • The bilateral or hosting agreement (if it exists).
