Applications for the Erasmus Mundus QUARMEN scholarships are now open for the 2025/2026 academic year.

Offered by a consortium of four universities in Canada, France, Portugal, and Italy, the QUARMEN program aims to fund 34 students of all nationalities to pursue a two-year Master’s degree in Quantum Science and Technologies. The scholarship can be worth up to €33,600 per year for two years. The application deadline is March 15, 2025.

ABOUT THE QUARMEN PROGRAM

The QUARMEN (QUAntum Research Master Education Network) Master’s program is a two-year international degree specializing in Quantum Science and Technology. It aims to train a new generation of experts for the second quantum revolution, providing education in key concepts and technologies related to quantum devices and information.
Upon graduation, QUARMEN students will be equipped to develop innovative ideas and engage directly in research activities within academic and industrial laboratories.

PARTICIPATING UNIVERSITIES

The QUARMEN Master’s program is offered by the following four international universities:

• University of Toronto, Canada.
• Université Paris-Saclay, France.
• University of Rome, Italy.
• University of Porto, Portugal.

DEGREES AWARDED

At the end of their studies, students will receive a Master’s degree from each host university, based on their mobility track. The applied rule is: 1 academic semester = 1 diploma.

PROGRAM MOBILITY

The Erasmus Mundus QUARMEN Master’s program requires mandatory mobility. Students must study in at least two countries and can design their own Master’s pathway by choosing among various options.

QUARMEN SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNTS

The QUARMEN consortium offers 34 scholarships, distributed as follows:

• 20 Erasmus Mundus scholarships valued at €1,400 per month for two years and a tuition fee waiver.
• 10 QUARMEN scholarships providing a tuition fee waiver.
• 4 scholarships from Université Paris-Saclay, each worth €10,000 per year for two years, including reimbursement of travel and visa expenses.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Applicants must have or be in the process of obtaining a Bachelor’s degree (licence) in Physics or a closely related field (such as Physical Engineering, dual degrees in Computer Science and Physics, Mathematics and Physics, etc.).
Admission to the University of Toronto is determined during the first semester based on academic performance in Semester 1 and career objectives.
