The Harvard Academy Postdoctoral Fellowships program identifies and supports outstanding scholars early in their careers whose work combines disciplinary excellence in the social sciences (including history and law) with a mastery of the language and history or culture of countries or regions outside the United States or Canada. Their scholarship can elucidate national, comparative or transnational problems, past or present.
Applications from qualified individuals are welcome, regardless of nationality, sex or race.
This program is only open to recent PhD holders and doctoral candidates in social sciences and law.
Those who are still pursuing a doctorate must have completed their routine training and be well advanced in writing their thesis before applying to become Academy scholars.
You must have completed or obtained your doctorate (or equivalent) after September 30, 2018.
Benefits of Harvard Academy Scholarships
Postdoctoral fellows will receive an annual stipend of $70,000. If selected prior to obtaining the doctorate, fellows will receive an annual stipend of $35,000 until obtaining the doctorate.
This allowance is supplemented by
- funding for conference and research travel,
- research assistants
- and health insurance coverage.
Certain lessons are authorized, but not compulsory.
Four to five fellows will be appointed for terms of two years.
Fellows will reside in the Cambridge / Boston area for the duration of their term.
