Women in STEM Scholarships in the United Kingdom
The British Council has launched the Women in STEM scholarships program in partnership with 26 UK universities with the aim of benefiting women from the Americas, South Asia, South East Asia, Egypt, Turkey, and Ukraine. The program is looking for women with a background in STEM, who can demonstrate their need for financial support, and who wish to inspire future generations of women to pursue careers in STEM.
There is no age limit for the Women in STEM scholarships program, and there are over 100 scholarships available for courses starting in Autumn 2022.
About the Women in STEM Scholarships
DEADLINE : 10 April 2022.
LEVEL : Master, early academic fellowships.
FINANCING : Fully Funded.
NUMBER OF SCHOLARSHIPS : 100.
OPEN TO : Specific countries.
COUNTRY : United Kingdom.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants can apply from the following countries:
- For both Master’s Scholarships and Early Academic Fellowships : Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam.
- For Masters Scholarships only : Brazil, Egypt, Mexico, Peru, Turkey, Ukraine.
Applicants must be :
- Be a woman, or identify as a woman.
- Be a passport holder and permanent resident of one of the eligible countries listed abve.
- Have submitted an application to study an eligible postgraduate programme in one of the programme areas and at one of mentioned below UK university partners assigned for each region.
- Have completed all components of an undergraduate degree that will enable them to gain entry onto a postgraduate programme at a UK university.
- Have not previously studied at degree level or higher in the UK or lived recently in the UK.
- Meet the English language requirement of the UK university partner.
- Demonstrate case for financial support need via a means-test conducted by the UK university partner.
- Return to their country of citizenship for a minimum of two years after their scholarship award has ended.
Main benefits of Women in STEM Scholarships
The British Council Scholarships for Women in STEM includes tuition fees, stipend, travel costs, visa, and health coverage fees. The scholarship also has a special support for mothers.
