List of Available Governments Scholarship Programs

Governments of developed countries such as the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, and many European countries are in an intense race to find and recruit the best and finest international students.

To attract these talented students, they offer them very generous government scholarship programs covering all their needs and expenses.

Governments scholarship programs seek to attract and retain top-tier talent, both nationally and internationally, develop their leadership potential and position them for success as leaders and researchers of tomorrow.

Every government scholarship mentioned below has four main information : A link to a previous/current call for application, its current status (open, closed, to be announced, country specific, or canceled), a brief description and its usual opening dates.

A scholarship status can be:

  • OPEN : The program is currently open for application.
  • CLOSED : Applications are now closed for the current academic year. Check back next year.
  • T.B.A : The program is not yet announced for the current year. Check back later for updates.
  • COUNTRY-SPECIFIC: Deadline varies depending on your country. The program can be open, or not, for you.
  • CANCELED : The program has been canceled for the current year. Check back next year.

1. Fulbright CLOSED

The Fulbright Program is the U.S. government’s flagship international educational and cultural exchange program. Led by the U.S. government in partnership with 160 countries worldwide, Fulbright provides successful candidates with a maximum of two years’ funding toward a master’s degree or to conduct research in U.S. institutions  for one academic year.

Expected announcement date: February each year.

2. Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship CLOSED

The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program enhances leadership among international professionals who collaborate to address local and global challenges and foster change for our collective good. The Humphrey Program is funded by the U.S. Department of State and administered by the Institute of International Education.

Expected announcement date: February each year.

3. Canadian Francophonie Scholarship Program CANCELED

The Canadian Francophonie Scholarship Program (CFSP) is entirely funded by the Government of Canad. The program is a scholarship program designed to build institutional capacities by training employed nationals from developing countries of La Francophonie.

EXCLUSIVE : A trusted source from the CFSP board told us at mastere.tn that this program has been canceled until 2025.

4. Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships OPEN

The Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships program provides funding to the very best postdoctoral applicants, both Canadian and non-Canadian, who will positively contribute to Canada’s economic, social, and research-based growth.

The Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships program seeks to attract and retain top-tier postdoctoral talent nationally and internationally.

Expected announcement date: April each year.

5. Trudeau Scholarships  T.B.A

Through its Scholarship, Mentorship and Fellowship programs, the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation focuses on the leadership development of our Scholars.

Beyond providing generous financial support, the foundation support the development of future Engaged Leaders who inspire innovative approaches as they blaze new trails in the Social Sciences and Humanities.

Expected announcement date: October each year.

6. Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships (Vanier CGS)   OPEN

The Government of Canada launched the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships (Vanier CGS) program to strengthen Canada’s ability to attract and retain world-class doctoral students and establish Canada as a global center of excellence in research and higher learning.

Up to 166 scholarships are awarded annually, valued at $50,000 per year each.

Expected announcement date: June-July each year.

7. China CSC Scholarships  ROUND YEAR OPEN

Chinese Government Scholarship programs sponsor international students, teachers, and scholars to undertake degree studies (bachelor, master, and PhD) and Chinese language study or academic research in institutions of higher education in China.

Chinese Government Scholarship covers both major study and Chinese language (preparatory) study.

8. British Chevening Scholarships  OPEN

The Chevening Scholarship is funded by the British government. It enables outstanding emerging leaders from all over the world to pursue one-year master’s degrees in the UK. The scholarships are fully funded :flights, accommodation, and course fees are all included.

Expected announcement date: August each year.

9. DAAD Master Scholarship for All Academic Disciplines  OPEN

The DAAD is the world’s largest funding organization for the international exchange of students and researchers. This fully funded government scholarship program offers you the opportunity to continue your academic education in Germany with a postgraduate course of study.

For applicants from artistic disciplines and the field of architecture, the DAAD offers subject-specific scholarship programs: MusicFine Art/Design/FilmPerforming ArtArchitecture.

Expected announcement date: Round year open.

10. Eiffel Excellence Scholarships  T.B.A

The Eiffel Excellence Scholarship Program is funded by the French government. The program enables French higher education institutions to attract top foreign students to enroll in their masters and PhD programs.

It provides opportunity for applicants to enroll at a master’s level or PhD level.

Expected announcement date: The Last week of September each year.

11. Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships  OPEN

Each year, the Swiss Confederation awards Government Excellence Scholarships to promote international exchange and research cooperation between Switzerland and over 180 other countries. The Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships are aimed at young researchers from abroad who have completed a master’s degree or PhD, and at foreign artists holding a bachelor’s degree.

Expected announcement date: August each year.

Expected application date: September each year.

12. Japan MEXT Scholarships  COUNTRY-SPECIFIC

Japanese government scholarship supports talented foreign students who study in higher education institution. All application procedures for Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarships are conducted through Japanese embassies, consulates in your countries, or institutions of higher education in Japan.

Expected announcement date: May each year.

13. Government of Flanders Master Mind Scholarships  T.B.A

The Flemish Ministry of Education and Training awards scholarships for master’s programs in Flanders and Brussels to outstanding students from around the world.

A Master Mind Scholarship includes a grant of €8 200 plus a tuition fee waiver per academic year.  The grant covers accommodation costs, insurances and a significant amount of your living expenses.

Expected announcement date: December each year.

14. New Zealand Scholarships CANCELED

Due to COVID-19, the Tertiary scholarships are available to applicants from the Pacific only. We will be monitoring this program status.

15. Holland Scholarships T.B.A

The Holland scholarship is financed by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science as well as several Dutch research universities and universities of applied sciences. The scholarship amounts to €5,000. You will receive this in the first year of your studies.

The Holland Scholarship is meant for international students from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) who want to do their bachelor’s or master’s in the Netherlands.

Expected announcement date: November each year.

16. Orange Knowledge Program T.B.A

The Orange Knowledge Program aims to contribute to a society’s sustainable and inclusive development. Its scholarships are open to mid-career professionals in specific countries.

Scholarships are available for a selection of short courses (duration 2 weeks to 12 months) and master’s programs (duration 12 to 24 months).

Expected announcement date: Late this year.

17. Swedish Institute Scholarship For Global Professionals T.B.A

The SI Scholarship for Global Professionals is a program funded by the Government of Sweden. It offers you a unique opportunity to develop both professionally and academically, experience Swedish society and culture, and build a long-lasting relationship with Sweden and other scholarship holders.

Expected announcement date: each fall.

18. Invest Your Talent In Italy T.B.A

Scholarships are awarded for courses of Master’s degree at Italian Higher Education Institutes (state-owned institutions or institutions legally recognized by the relevant State authorities) that are part of the “Invest Your Talent in Italy” Program.

The program also includes a mandatory internship at selected Italian companies which are partners of the initiative.

Expected announcement date: November each year.

19. Türkiye Scholarships CLOSED

Türkiye Scholarships is an international scholarship program fully funded by the Government of Turkey. Scholarships offered under this program are available to international students at associate, undergraduate, master, and PhD level of higher education.

Expected announcement date: January each year.

20. Scotland’s Saltire Scholarships  CLOSED

Scotland’s Saltire Scholarships is a program of scholarships offered by the Scottish Government with Scottish universities in the areas of science, technology, creative industries, healthcare and medical sciences, and renewable and clean energy.

Scholarships are available to citizens of the following countries: Canada, China (including Hong Kong), India, Japan, Pakistan, and USA.

Expected announcement date: May of each year.

21. Ireland Governments Scholarship Programs T.B.A

The Government of Ireland Scholarship Programs consist of two sub-programs: the Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship Program and the Government of Ireland Postdoctoral Fellowship Program.

These programs support suitably qualified research master’sdoctoral and postdoctoral candidates pursuing, or intending to pursue, full-time research in any discipline.

Expected announcement date: September of each year.

22. Russian Government Scholarships Program T.B.A

The program aims to recruit talented foreign students who would like to enroll in master’s and PhD programs in Russia. Your tuition fee will be paid by the Russian Federation. You will have to cover your travel and accommodation costs, insurance and personal expenses.
